Inspiration
In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel called on Ernest Beaux to create “a woman’s perfume with a woman’s scent”, intense and original. The nose offers a visionary composition calling on an unprecedented use of aldehydes. Mademoiselle favors version number 5 of the fragrance, and decides to keep this number as a simple name. The innovative scent of the perfume, but also its name and its bottle, of rare simplicity, revolutionized the history of perfumery.
